Food, Family & Giving Back With the Stars
Family. Food. Boisterous Laughter. Possible Snowflakes. Holidays are filled with various ingredients of love, memories and enchantment. They never feel quite as magical, however, as they do when they are also filled with the invaluable gift of giving back.
Thanksgiving serves as a reminder not only to be thankful for what we have, but to also remember those who don’t. Love was definitely felt and made known this holiday by many of our favorite celebrities! Thousands of people were the recipients of turkeys and other goods and services.
Here’s a highlight of some of our favorite celebs giving back this holiday season:

They say the couple that prays together, stays together. What about the couple that gives? We’re sure that at the very least, they appreciate together. One of our favorite R&B singers, Miguel, and his longtime girlfriend, Nazanin Mandi, helped the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank box up food to those in need.

We love it when Chris isn’t here for the drama. Instead, Chris was here to spread love to families in need by giving out turkeys in Queens, NY, just hours before he was to appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Chris was also here for the task of inspiring by challenging other celebrities to give back. “We think about ourselves all the time and take everything for granted…Let’s give back because it’s the right thing to do,” Brown wrote on Instagram.
Niecy Nash, Melissa Rivers, and Emmy Rossum
A group of humble hearts joining together to make one by fulfilling the same mission is a sure way to leave some remnants of love on your dinner plate! These three ladies volunteered at the Los Angeles’ Mission’s annual Thanksgiving celebration this year. Shameless actress, Emmy Rossum, tweeted: “I never feel better than when I’m giving my time to something bigger.” Along with a number of other volunteers, they helped the LA Mission to feed approximately 5,000 people.
Sevyn Streeter and Andre Berto
Mother Teresa once said, “Love begins by taking care of the closest ones—the ones at home.” Multi-talented R&B Singer, Sevyn Streeter, not only shows her support of this notion through her recent single, 4th Street, but also by giving back. She teamed up with boxer Andre Berto to give out more than 200 turkeys to those in need in her hometown of Polk County.
“No role models and I’m here right now,” J. Cole raps in his song, “No Role Modelz.” Cole was definitely here to be just that this holiday season when he stopped by a hospital in his hometown to visit one of his teen fans, Tae Stackhouse, who is battling cancer. “I’m proud to say that I’m blessed even tho I have cancer he told me to keep positive so that’s what ima do. Thanks J. Cole,” Stackhouse wrote on his Facebook account.
The rapper and family man partnered up with Atlanta’s mayor, Kasim Reed, to host their 12th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. As expected, T.I. was joined by his family members and adorable sons to giveaway turkeys and other food items to Atlanta’s senior citizens and families who are less fortunate. As Ben Franklin famously stated, “Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” Way to go T.I.!
